Dr. Lukasz Katzer also moved to us from the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf. That was actually clear – he was looking for an area of dentistry that was as “medical” as possible. In addition to his dental expertise with a focus on CMD diagnostics and therapy, he therefore completed additional training in dental psychosomatics at the Academy of Practice and Science (APW) of the German Society for Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine (DGZMK).
Another focus of Dr. Katzer’s expertise is the treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders (snoring, sleep apnoea) – an extremely important and increasingly relevant topic. In addition to extremely invasive operations and breathing masks with ventilation motors, dental occlusal splints are also available for treatment, which adjust the lower jaw to a different position. This type of treatment complies with current guidelines and has been proven to be effective. It requires special knowledge.
