Research projects
by PD Dr. Ahlers & colleagues.
Our patients and their successful treatment are the focus of our interest. In order to offer our patients the best diagnostic and therapeutic options in our specialist field at all times, we are constantly developing our diagnostic procedures and examining the results as part of scientific studies.
In addition, all dentists in the practice teach in the Function, CMD and Bruxism curriculum of the Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein Dental Associations and the DGZMK Academy of Practice and Science. PD Dr. Ahlers has also been teaching at the University of Hamburg for many years.
This keeps our expertise up to date – and the treatment of our patients too.
We are currently researching the following projects:
Hamburg tooth wear project
- Measurement of the reproducibility of individual findings (the study on the reproducibility of diagnoses has already been completed and published);
- Measurement of the reproducibility of the findings on the outer and inner sides of the teeth and on restorations;
- Influence of lighting and visual magnification on the reproducibility of individual findings and diagnoses
Preparation of ceramic veneers
- Influence of different preparation instruments on the quality of the preparation
- Learning effect of different test subjects when repeating the preparation with different preparation instruments
Creation of facebow
- Effect of the patient’s posture during application on reproducibility
Clinical functional analysis + manual structural analysis
- Measurement of the reproducibility and validity of jaw movement
- Impact of the transmission of doctor’s letters on patient satisfaction and the acceptance of treatment suggestions
- Distribution of muscle findings depending on the test directions
- Reproducibility of occlusion contacts using classic test foils and electronic digital measuring foils
- Testing the influence of different body postures on the distribution of occlusal contacts
